Programme description

POLONEZ BIS programme is addressed to researchers with a PhD degree or at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience who has not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Poland for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call announcement.

As part of the stay, it will be possible to implement a research grant in the field of basic research for a period of 24 months. The maximum amount of funding from the National Science Center is 100,000. EUR.

In order to better exploit the potential of POLONEZ BIS programme, the NCN will cooperate with four institutional partners:

• CRAC / Vitae Ltd., based in Cambridge, UK, which will help Fellows to properly plan further development of their scientific careers,
• Foundation Women Scientists – Polish Women Scientists Network, which will share expert knowledge in the field of Responsible Research and Innovation and will ensure the dissemination of the programme and individual Fellows’ achievements,
• Startup HUB Poland Foundation, which will ensure the development of cooperation between academia and business,
• Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, University of Warsaw, which will provide Fellows with practical advice on how to implement Open Access policy.

The first call for proposals will be launched in March 2021.

Three calls for proposals are planned under the POLONEZ BIS programme. Upcoming deadlines:

1. September 2021: 1st call.
2. March 2022: 2nd call. 
3. September 2022: 3rd call.

Types of eligible costs

Eligible costs:

1) * Intern’s salary: EUR 4,465 / monthly
– family allowance: 300 EUR
– disability allowance: EUR 200
2) Research grant: max. EUR 100,000
– research team remuneration, including mentor remuneration at the host entity
– the possibility of granting scholarships to students or doctoral students
– additional categories at other direct costs
– equipment with a unit value of up to EUR 2,500
– the cost of business travellings as part of cross-sectoral internships (secondments)
3) 20% flat rate for indirect costs for the host entity
– 25% of the amount of costs spent in consultation with the trainee, e.g. a Polish language course
– 2 popularizing events / undertakings
– employment of an administrative assistant of 0.25 full time

* The “gross” amount includes derivatives from remuneration.
